Audio levels changing after encoded – Adobe Premiere
Hello friends! Prepare for my saga.
I have been having an issue with audio levels and cannot find a similar forum to help solve my problem.
Working to levels in adobe at -2dB for Australian standard specs for TV. When dispatching, was prompted to use loudness normalization effect and followed the parameters (-24LUFs target loudness, -2tdB [true max peak]). Didn’t notice at the time that this effect actually took the mix down to about -9/10 range. I manually adjusted the levels without the effect.
Has anyone encountered this problem?

LUFS isn’t like normalization. it takes the average of the whole sequence( like a perceptual RMS averaged across several minutes worth)
It almost always changes the levels.
it’s always a trade between dynamic range and gain. there’s some plugins called loudness maximizers
that attempt to automate this. additionally, compressors average against EQ, so it’s always a good idea to get your EQ smoothed out when reducing dynamic range as most dialogue is recommended a ratio of 2:1. LUFS should always be at the end of the pipeline as it’s a polishing standard tool, not a repair tool.
