audio levels
Hello All,
I’m doing some audio cleanup on a low budget film. when looking at the db levels, it looks pretty low to me. does this look normal or what db level should the audio be at?

Yes, they are low … I would boost them to a min of -1db but as low as they are you may end up with a noise floor issue …………. WILLIE

As I recall, the typical peak for film should be at -9db. And that’s exactly where it is. So you should be fine. Film is much MUCH more dynamic than modern music, which means dialogue will appear very, very low. Below is a short sample of a rip from a THX mastered major motion picture. As you can see, the levels seem very low.
