Audio level
Is there an easy way to increase your audio level for a track when it’s all the way to the top already? Currently I export the section of the track to Soundtrack Pro and use one of the filters to give me more gain then export it back to my FCP timeline. But is there a way to raise the gain even more within the FCP timeline?

Apply the audio filter called AU Dynamics which has a master gain slider. This will give you much more gain. If necessary you can also add a bit of compression. The Limiter filter also has a master gain slider.

A tip I got from Philip Hodgetts is to put a copy of the audio track(s) on the timeline in sync with the original track – this will inclrease the audio level.

That works, but it eats up an additional audio track and makes moving clips around a little more cumbersome. Adding the filter is easier and gives you a lot more gain.

It’s a bodge, but you can also increase the gain of a clip by more than 12db by nesting the audio layer and opening the nested sequence in the viewer (ctrl click and select ‘open in viewer’).
This does not require renders, can gives you more range…
