I shoot 1080i using a Sony V1U and edit with Sony Vegas pro 8b build 217. After I’ve imported the m2t footage into my computer (Dell ADM 64/2gig memory, loads of disc space) I can play the video/audio from the time line and all is well. I then SOLO the audio timeline to find a SYNC point. Once I find the SYNC point I then MUTE that audio track and SOLO a different audio track to find that SYNC point. I then unMUTE/unSOLO both audio tracks.

Now my problem begins – if I go back either audio track I do not have any sound…I can see the waveforms but don’t hear a thing.

Any help/thoughts/suggestions will be very appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Pete

    Peter,

What happens if you mute one of the tracks?
If you can hear either track with the other muted you
have a phase issue between the two tracks of audio.
Post back and let me know. Let’s look at that first.

    Hi Rick,

    Here is what happens..

    I have 2 video/audio time lines (1st camera & 2nd camera)

When I solo camera1 video/audio track and play it works. I then solo camera2 video/audio track and it plays. I then return to camera1 and solo it and no audio. I mute a track and leave the other unmuted and still no audio.

    I may try uninstall/reinstall V8.

    It should not do that.
    I’m stumped.

I agree with you. I decided to try on a different computer before re-installing V8…same results. It is like V* is muting the audio but I can’t see it.

I’m stumped as well but I need to edit this footage.
    Thanks..

Another variable that may be part or all of the problem. I captured the footage on a FireStore FS-4 which is FAT32 files and I’m wondering if that is somehow related to the problem. I’ve decided to capture the tapes from my camera and SQUEEZE to .avi files so I can get to working on the project without loosing any more time.

Once I get a chance I’ll capture the .m2t files from the tapes rather than the FireStore to see if that has any effect.

Will let you know when I do that.
