Audio issue in Premiere pro
Hi, and thanks in advance to anyone who can help me out!
I am working on a short film, and need to record some dialogue. I have now got two Sennheizer G3 lav wireless mic sets, which I am plugging into the two XLR inputs of my Zoom H4N recorder. It is recording perfectly in the stereo mode. One mic is recorded on the left and the other on the right.
When I drag the recording onto my desktop it is as one single file. Not split into two. When I take this into premiere, I am getting the conversation as that. One person coming through the left speaker and the second person coming through the right!
Is there a way I can make these come out of both, but keep place them on separate tracks? Or do I need to be recording this in MONO instead of STEREO?
I know this might be a really silly question, but I am very VERY new to this, infact the first time I am using these bits of equipment, and I am really finding it difficult!

Hi James,
Different people will have different ways of doing this, but my method would be to use the audio effects “Fill Left” and “Fill Right”, which plays the Left or Right audio ONLY through both channels.
Just put duplicate audio clips into the sequence with Fill Left on one, and Fill Right on the other, to have two unique stereo clips basically.

BEFORE you put the clips in the sequence, control or option (mac) click on the files and change the audio settings to mono.

Hi Jeff,
Thank you for that and I will try it, but just wanted to ask, how do you “fill” left and right? I am using Cs3, and not that familiar with any of the sound stuff on it.
