Audio Interfaces
I posted a while back that I was looking to buy some monitor speakers. I ended up buying the Behringer Truth B2031A monitors. Now I need an interface. I bought the Behringer FCA202 but the stupid thing does not control monitor out levels, only headphone out, leaving me with virtually no control over my output levels. Can anyone recommend a well-built yet small audio interface that satisfies most of the following?
Connects through FIREWIRE
L/R BALANCED TRS Output
Monitor output level control as well as headphone output l.c.
Uses AC adapter for power, not powered via FW bus
24bit D/A converters
Up to at least 96kHz sampling

Are you guys really stuck with FW interface?
How are you monitoring the video now?

Not stuck. I just would like a firewire interface because it is more robust than having a USB interface. I don’t have an HD video monitor currently, so video out is currently not on the menu. When the time comes, I’ll worry about that.
UNLESS
Is there a good box (I’ve seen a few examples from AJA and Blackmagic) that will give me accurate HD out to my 24″ monitor, as well as better audio out than only RCA?

Depends on the 24″ display model maybe, but Matrox.com has a dandy box for that will do this AND downconvert to SD video as well as SDI outs etc. HD Sdi and analog outs too… For a grand… Keep in mind it’s an output only box, but allows you to lay SD to tape from HD sources.
AJA and Blackmagic’s boxes are a bit less pricy, but only send the scaled signal to the computer displays they work with. Not the rest of those goodies…
