Does anyone know of a (cheaper) audio interface that is fully compatible with Final cut pro?

I am currently running a Tascam us 122l (usb) and although it runs fine in GarageBand and Soundtrack Pro, it is not recognized in FCP even with the most updated drivers etc…

Anyway, if anyone knows of a reliable (on the cheaper side) audio interface, I’d love to hear of it.

    Thanks…

PS – wanting to run it in FCP for voiceover (with proper mic) and record musical scores etc…

Apple has a database of devices of all kinds that work with studio here: https://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/resources/supportdevices.php

There are several of them listed.

I read your thread recently. I just had the very same problem with Final Cut Express and a Tascam US 1641. Works with Garage Band and other DAW software, but NOT with Final Cut. Have you gotten another interface that works with it??? Thanks, David S

HI David – I haven’t anything as of yet to replace the frustrations of the Tascam. Whenever I need to record anything for FCP I just scootch over to Soundtrack Pro to rip off some takes.

If you find a reliable unit for FCP, I’d love to hear of it. Sorry for the tardiness.

Rob, I just ordered a second audio interface and installed it today. It’s an M-AUDIO MobilePre version 2. To my delight it works with the voice over in Final Cut Express. I’m assuming it will also work with FC Pro. Good luck, David

Hey David – did you buy it online? I looked at the prices approx. 179.00. Looks like a sweet little unit ideal for laptops etc… Thanks for the heads up. Could you let me know if you have any issues as you start running it as this is perfectly in my price range etc…

    Thanks,

    Rob

Rob, I got it on ebay for about $105. This is the very new version 2 of the Mobilepre, so it was very slightly used….just a couple of weeks old. I tried it out in FCE with a mic and it seems to work nicely. I also ordered an older version 1 of the Mobilepre, again off of ebay. I want to try that one too. The reason is that the older version would be compatible both with my desktop (running Leopard) AND my laptop running Tiger. Right now the new version 2 unit doesn’t work with anything pre 10.5…so I can’t use it with my laptop. When I get the older version 1 I am going to try it with both computers. If it works well I may just sell the new version 2. Would you have any interest in it? I’ll let you know how they both work out.
