Sorry, I’m a little new to Vegas and this may be a dumb question, but:

I’m trying to put together a silent film, with a series of video clips (with the sound muted) and a separate audio track (mp3) running over the whole thing, independent of the video. My problem is that I can’t get the audio to run, as it is cut off whenever there is video playing and resumes after the video has ended. The best I can do is get it to fade in, which isn’t really what I want. Any help would be much appreciated!

Sounds like you still have the MOVIE Audio on the timeline – if you are copying the movie from the TRIMMER window – if you click the TAB key you can alternate between copying movie AND audio, movie only or audio only – that way you can get just the movie onto the timeline.

If you already have your movie and audio on the timeline click the clips and press the ‘U’ key – this will UNGROUP the Movie from the Audio – you can then highligh the movie audio files and delete them from the timeline.

That way you should just have your various movie tracks and your single soundtrack audio – that should do the trick,

If I have missed something – please explain further…
