Audio in FCPx

I am shooting video on a Canon XF 100 and when I import using Aunsoft video convertor I don’t get both audio channels in FCPx just channel 1 – how can i view and hear both audio channels – I can hear them on the camera play back so I know they are definitely there – can anyone help please (I am not very technical either). I am doing an interview on Friday so need to sort out by then. thanks

First check if you might actually have both channels in the inspector. See here:

Yes have already checked the inspector and there is no audio on the footage where I have recorded through channel 2. It is definitely only picking up channel 1

Can you post a very short clip of the original footage before you converted it. When you reply you will see a small floppy disk icon and you can use that to upload a file, and then you will be provided a link.

I’ll bet we can get it figured out.

Actually I found some MXF footage. Looks like the audio is captured separately. Interesting. So it is apparently something with the conversion software.

Hold the phone. I found the solution. Its an app called XfcpX that will properly rewrap and combine the files needed. It’s free and you can read about it here:

Make sure you read the instructions, as it requires that you use the Canon XF Utility.

Hello

Thanks for that. I have tried it and it is coming in ok with the 2 audio channels but in fcpx the video is either out of sync with the audio and keeps stopping and starting or I get an error message saying that my disk is to slow and frames are missing. I am using a brand new mac which is fast enough to cope with this so that shouldn’t happen.

Any ideas on how to solve that ?

Wierd. Can you transcode and create optimized media or proxy?
