Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Audio in FCP

I am using FCP 7 and I shoot with AVCHD. After I log and transfer the clips into FCP they all have the “stereo pair” checked. I dont have independant control over the audio with it checked. Is there a way to get the clips to come in without the stereo pair? Also is there a way for FCP to have a mixed mono output?

    thanks

Simple click the stereo pair and the link will be broken, then pan both channels to the center and it mixes the mono.

o.k. cool thanks. I got this to work on a “per clip” basis. is there a way to make a “global change”? So everytime I bring in a clip it will have the stereo pair unchecked and come out mixed?

I’ve never worked with AVCHD, but with other formats in L&T in the Import Settings tab next to the audio select buttons you’ll see a symbol. Clicking it will designate the transferred audio as stereo or mono.

A way of dealing with this if you have a lot of clips already in a sequence is to change the audio of the first clip to the way you want it, then copy it (Cmd-C), select all the following clips and Paste Attributes (Opt-V) and in the audio choices check Levels & Pans, click OL and the change will be applied.

Nice! thanks John I think that will work. Unfortunatly when I use the log and transfer tool with my raw theres only one audio option basicly audio or not and it says audio will be imported in stereo.
