i am using FCP 6.0.1 . I tried doubling the audio track, but it makes just a little difference. Is there any other way to amplfy the sound in final cut or sound track. if so, how?
    thanks.

Use Modify>Audio>Normalization Gain. This will apply a Gain filter and also give you conrol for setting the level for the whole clip.

If you are planning on exporting the audio via OMF, then check if normalising will cause the normalised clip to be exported. This is not what the audio post people want. They want the unprocessed.

A quick and non destructive way to add more gain is to add the compressor limiter plugin and there is more gain there to be added after you have done the basic +12db.
