Audio in clip window, not project window
I’m recording video from an ATI All-In-Wonder (7200) 640×480 Huffyuv 2.11 video codec, PCM 48khz Stereo audio. (I’ve also tried 44.1khz.)
When I load this file into Premiere Pro 1.5, the audio will play fine in the clip window, but the project window plays no audio. As a matter of fact, no waveform appears in the timelime when the audio properties are opened up. When I create a new sequence with at least one audio channel each of mono, stereo and 5.1, it will happily place the audio track in the correct channel, but no waveform appears and the project has no audio. Still, if I dbl-click the file in the timeline to open it up in the clip window (or even just play the file with Media Player Classic) it works fine.
What am I missing?

Is your deck connected still connected to your computer? If so, you might want to unplug it. If you do not want to unplug it, then go to playback options and select ‘Play Audio on Audio Hardware’

I’m not using any output hardware other than the desktop. I tried changing every one of the playback options just to be sure, but no change – the waveform is not read and the audio is not played in the project window.
This problem only seems to affect the videos that I’ve captured – other videos (either downloaded or part of training packages) play their audio fine in both the clip and project windows.

This may sound really weird, but I recently did this with someone else….
Open up your clip in the source monitor and put the same clip in the program monitor. Play the sequence. Can you hear the audio now?
