I don’t see an imovie thread, so sorry for posting here.

I’m importing a VHS tape via Firewire on a VHS/miniDV player. I’m going into imovie, and the audio is coming in as an unacceptable 32K samples-sec. I need it to be 48K but I don’t see a setting to change the audio. Where can I do this?

I’m using imovie, because nothing I do in FCP will let me import audio in stereo! I’ve no idea why, and have tried all kinds of different settings, trashing prefs, etc. Any help?

Okay, I can see in FCP’s audio preview section of log and capture that the input signal is stereo, it’s only when it gets saved to the disc that the file ends up being only mono. Why would FCP not save a stereo signal as stereo???

Not sure if this helps, but any iMovie file imported into Final Cut comes in as a “DV” file, and must be rendered before you can utilize it.

Not really. The problem I have is that FCP won’t recognize a VHS tape sent through firewire on a miniDV/VHS deck as stereo. It reads it in the meter as stereo, but then saves it to a file as mono. I’ve no idea why, and it’s extremely frustrating. Nobody knows???
