On my timeline I have narration on one track, music on the other.
Upon playback, it gets hung up for a split second, causing a noticeable glitch in the narration. That is understandable given the USB 2 external hard drive.
But when I render the movie to a self-contained AVI, that glitch is intact.
But if I mute the music track, the narration plays fine.
    Any thoughts?

    Is your music mp3?
If it is I have seen this before. Convert to .wav and it should fix it unless there is something wrong with the file.

I had a similiar problem, it was the onboard audio , bought a addon card and disabled the onboard, problem solved. just a suggestion, if nothing else works. good luck, this is a pain of a problem

that’s interesting – even though the problem remains in rendered audio files, it can still be caused by the onboard audio? weird.
