    ——————————————————————————–

    hello,
i’m going to south america in june to shoot a documentary. i’ll be alone.
i’d like to bring the jvc gy-100 but it won’t be available so its either the z1u or the fx1.

all im interested in the z1u for is the 2 XLR independantly mixable inputs. i’m going to bring a wireless and a shotgun mic.

—>im curious if anyone knows, when you plug an external mic into the FX1, can you record with both the external mic and the onboard camera mic?

if not, it seems like i could save a grand by buying a beachtek xlr to mini converter, use both my good mics. I’m assuming that the analogue to digital conversion hardware in both of these cameras is the same because of their pricepoint and that the only difference is the actual XLR inputs. —-> anybody know about this for sure? as xlr only helps with cable lengths over 12′ and doesn’t do anything for wireless mics – if the hardware in the z1u is no different its not worth 1500$ to me. but, i can not find any information on this issue.

    thanks for reading,
    max

    oh, also

    i have a senheisser
k6 shotgun mic. need to buy a wireless. i’ve heard the senheisser
evolution 112 wirelss is a good buy at $500ish, but i’ve also heard that
its sound is a little more muddled than the k6. I heard that all wireless
will be more muddled than the k6. any thoughts?
