    Hi all,

Just had a new 1080p transfer done from film to HDCAM SR with a 5.1 soundtrack. We have a stereo aiff file exported from our original standard def 29.97 version of the same film. My question is: once I get the HDCAM SR dubbed to a format I can work with (probably DVCPRO HD) can I then drop the aiff audio into a 1080p sequence with the DVCPRO HD dub? Will it sync? Is audio dependant on framerate? Thanks!

If it’s just an AIF or WAV, and it is 48.000 samples/second, that’s what matters. Audio does not really have a framerate (although it can have one within the Avid), and 48K should remain 48K.

It will sync with a 23.976 dub of the 1080, not 24.000. You will need to pull it up (speed up) by .1% to stay in sync.

So are you saying that it will sync to 23.97, but to sync to 24 I would have to speed it up?
