Hey guys, I was looking at some gear and wanted another opinion.

I wanna get the Sound Devices 702t for some short low budget films I shoot regularly. However, it’s expensive, and the Sound Devices 702 is a bit cheaper. Timecode I know is on the 702t (which I’d like…) but it’s $2,500 vs $1,800.

    What would you do?

    Thanks for taking the time!

What cameras are being used? If they’re shooting on DSLR’s like the Canon 5/7D you don’t need tc. In fact you don’t need tc at all if you slate every take with a clap board.

    Good point!

Yea I mostly shoot on 7D/5D for the web. And the other thing is I have some buddies who are sound guys that have really nice gear. I just need something good in the event that they are on a gig or something. Which happens a lot.

    I’m leaning towards 702…

    Thanks Eric!

Hello Alan and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.

If you’re running long shots, you may need some sort of sync to prevent slippage. How long? Can’t say. Too long and you’ll be nipping and tucking to keep sync.
