  • audio files relink at wrong frame rate

A bit of a puzzle this.

We have a project where the audio was recorded on a digital multi track. There are 24 tracks and the media is wave files. The whole project resides on a hard drive. Video is DV NTSC.

We made a copy of the files and FCP project onto another drive so that another editor could work on it at the same time.

I had to relink the wave files as FCP couldn’t find them. When they relinked suddenly they did not play back at the right speed. Checking them they suddenly are showing up as being 60 fps instead of 30.

Is there some setting that determines the frame rate for these relinked files?

I went and re-did the whole operation on another system and it worked fine but I”d really like to know what went wrong.

BEFORE you relink the files, set FCP up in the proper easy setup (such as 29.97 for DV) then quit FCP and reopen it. Then relnk the files.

    Thanks Jeremy.

Interesting that it relinks the media according to the current setting rather than keeping the initial rate.
