    Hi all,

I’ve been on an Avid for a while and now I’m back on FCP. I’m trying to get my skills and speed on FCP to what it is on Avid. I’m missing a few things that I’m hoping someone cane help me out with.

When I’m making an audio dissolve I want to START the dissolve at the end of one clip and go (let’s say) 20 frames into the next clip. When I do that on FCP it appears to only allow me to do a cross dissolve with 10 frames on either side. I see that when I double-click I can change the duration, but not where the dissolve starts and ends. I can control it on a video dissolve. What gives?!? Am I missing something? Any help would be appreciated.

By the by, I’m on FCP 6.0 on a G4 Powerbook.

I agree, the audio transition control could be beefed up a bit. In your case, use the slip tool to align the transition to your liking….hit S once is the keystroke you’re looking for.

If the dissolve is limited, it’s probably because one side of the transition only has (in your case) 10 frames of audio before the clip ends.
