I’m hoping someone here has either the knowledge or a resource for me to
know what my audio export settings would be for a short film that is
going to be uploaded to Amazon Prime. This is my first time prepping
for a streaming service so I’m going in cold. There are no specs on
Prime’s guidelines for audio such as loudness or peak. Only for the video file, captions, etc…
So, common sense would indicate that I could use the same values for
loudness and peaks as the Netflix standards which are listed in the
Resolve audio loudness metering (as well as normalization options)
export settings. But I wonder, because the difference between Netflix
and YouTube is enormous. If anyone can guide me on this, it would be
greatly appreciated. I guess it means you’re getting somewhere when the
info you need isn’t just a simple YouTube tutorial search!

Prime should have tech specs for loudness and channel assignment published. My subjective experience is Prime is louder than Netflix. Prime probably uses the same SMPTE loudness standard as cinema and international broadcast which are all within +/-1db of LUFs. Netflix is a lower LUFs and they seem to be the outliers in the world of loudness, apart from the internet which is a dogs breakfast.

Thanks Michael. The specs on audio are confusing. Do you know if I export a stereo audio mix as a single interleaved file, or separate L/R channels for these services? The terminology they used seems to leave a lot to interpretation.

I’d have to read their specs to answer specifics. If in doubt you should ask them
