Audio Editing / Sound Forge / Project files?
I got a copy of sound forge with vegas platinum I bought many years ago.
I was curious, is there any way to save a project file in this basic version of Sound Forge? Does anybody know?
It seems to just let me save final rendered projects. I cannot see where to create a project file.
I’m also curious what do you recommend for sound editing? Is it worth the $$ to upgrade to sound forge pro?

I do all my audio editing in Vegas because I know it very well. SoundForge has a completely different user interface than Vegas but I have version 9 (pro) because it does have a really good noise reducer.

I do not have the latest version of Sound Forge, but the versions I have used prior to that (many) do not have a concept of project. Sound Forge changes the audio file, and will save the file in any of several formats. However, once you leave that Sound Forge session, there is no undo capability.

Sound Forge is worth its weight in gold Matthew. Get it if you can.
Although i do most of my audio work and mixing in Vegas, Sound Forge
is my main tool when recording voice overs, manipulating audio,
Repairing and analyzing audio files and Noise reduction.
Every serious editor should have a professional grade Audio Editing
software in their toolset, because you never know what your client
is gonna throw at you. Been through all the rest and settled with

I now do most of my work in Izotope RX-2 Advanced which is one reason I have not upgraded to the latest version of Sound Forge. RX-2 is, IMHO, far ahead of Sound Forge and can do many things that are simply not possible in Sound Forge. It looks like the upgraded version is even better.

Of course Izotope is faaaar superior than whats built into Soundforge,
But i Prefer using Soundforge as a host for all my Izotope plugins,
i have more flexiblity and visual control over what i am doing.Steve Rhoden

To me, one of the main values of Izotope RX is that you can see both the audio waveform and the frequency spectrum at each point in the audio file. Nothing that I have ever seen in Sound Forge does that. For example, perhaps there is a pop from the mic because the mic has no pop filter on it. I have found those pops in the very low frequencies, and I can attentuate just the low frequencies at that point in the recording by using the spectral repair tool. If the Izotope plugins within Sound Forge provide that kind of screen image, I might take another look at Sound Forge.
