  Audio dropout on capture

  I have a project in which I am capturing a lot of old VHS tapes. I am using a JVC VHS deck with S-video and RCA audio into a Canopus ADVC-100 and firewire to my Mac Book Pro. I am also monitoring the VHS out of the Canopus. The audio sounds fine as it captures but when I play the captured clip back I get a audio drop outs that have a drop-out in a two places about five frames apart. They occur randomly though out the capture. The hits show up on the recorded waveform and the audio peaks at around -18db. I am using the DV NTSC 48K easy setup with the device control set in non-controllable. I tried a small test of also capturing at 44.1K with a adjusted easy setup but had the same results.

  Does anyone know of a different setup that might eliminate this?
