    FCP 5 – SD video

Playing thru a clip on the timeline the audio cuts out for a couple of seconds. Zooming in to the timeline I see a 1 frame dropout on both audio channels. I cut out that frame. But the audio still disappears.

I razor the video and isolate the video frame immediately prior to the audio dropout. Pull the opacity down to 0 and the audio plays fine. Take the opacity on that single frame back up and the audio drops out again.

It’s easy to fix by copying the frame to another sequence and thenput the single frame sequence back into the original timeline, but anyone konw what is happening?

    thanks

I am not sure whether this problem is on the original tape, as I don’t have it

Delete all of your render frames (audio and video) and try again.

no render frames involved – the problem (2 sec audio dropout) was there on capture.

What’s happening in the picture on that frame? Is there something like a dropout, or a camera flash going off in the lens?

no – it occurs half-way thru a 10 minute looked down shot with little movement. Nothing starnge about the frame in the scopes

That’s pretty odd. I could see if there was a dropout or if the chroma or luma suddenly spiked, but now you’ve got me stumped. Are you able to check the original source tape?

I no longer have the tape – it’s possible that the frame was corrupted somehow on capture –

oh well, an easy fix thankfully
