I am outputting an hour and 40 minute piece in DVCPRO HD from FCP 5 via our Kona LH. The audio drifts out of sync after about 5 minutes (which is also after the first cut) The piece is just ra footage brought in off of P2. It’s a window dub, so the edits are very rudimentary. I just pieced a bunch of stuff together.

The footage is 720p 24 but the video output is KonaLH 59.97 720 8bit. Could this be the problem?

Other info: dual 2ghz G5. Lacie S2s 1 TB in Raid 0. Outputing via Kbox using downconvert to JVC DVD recorder.

The guy at AJA told me he thought the Lacie might be too slow, but I could swear I’ve worked on other stuff that was more complicated that I’ve not seen this drift on.

    Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I have seen this on long tape captures but I haven’t heard of this from P2.

Are the files playing in sync in the viewer (if they are not in the timeline)?

Have you tried making a 1 or two frame edit on the first cut? (call me crazy but I have seen this work many times)

I’m going to check this stuff out. The issue is not the file or the timeline. The clips are inn sync, the audio just wanders on playback. I wound up using compressor and DVD studio pro to author the DVD, but it took 5 hours instead of the hour and a half it should have.

The AJA guy said my ESATA hard drive might not be fast enough. That would be a drag.

    thanks for the advice.
