  • Audio Drift when sync double system audio

I’m currently in the process of syncing dailies for a feature that is currently in production. The film is being shot on the Red camera at 23.98 fps Non-drop. The audio is being recorded on an Aaton hard drive recorder in broadcast wave 23.98 fps non-drop at 48.048kHz 24-bit.

When I merge the audio and video in FCP, the audio starts in sync and begins to drift rather quickly. At first I thought that FCP wasn’t slowing the audio files down to play back properly at 48kHz, so I tried converting them in Compressor to 48.000 kHz. That only made it worse.

Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong here?

    Thanks.
