My setup: I have the decklink extreme on a dual 2.7 with final cut studio. I have the XLR cables connected to XLR to TRS 1/4″ adapter cables and then plugged into a behringer UB1002 mixer. This setup is just for monitoring. I use firewire for all edit to tape functions. If I plug into 1 and 2 on the mixer, I turn the gain all the way down. If I plug into 3 – 10, there are no gains, it is line level by default. No difference in performance. BTW, I never see the peak indicators light on the mixer and the master meters don’t light the clip indicator either. I have the system sound set to go through the decklink.

With FCP, everything is fine. No distortion.

My Problem: With Soundtrac Pro or any other type of system sound, I get distortion on peaks. Especially with playing files in quicktime. With iTunes or Quicktime, I have to turn it way down in the system and everything is fine. But this is a real problem because of Soundtrac Pro. I use it in my workflow and I can’t tollerate distortion. I understand this is a cheap mixer, but I don’t have any problem with anything else that I plug into it, and like I said, I never seen any peak or clipping indicators.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. It seems the audio distortion posts are old news and they aren’t being responded to anymore, but I’ve done the searches and it seems that my problem is a little different since it isn’t a problem in FCP, just everything else.

    Thanks,
    Gary

    Hi Gary,

I’m not sure if you’ve seen the new technical note named Apple SoundTrack Pro

I had already made that change. It didn’t do anything.

    Thanks,
    Gary
