Audio disappearing partway thru imported clips
Hello all,
I’m new to Premiere Pro (but a longtime editor with Avid and FCP), and I could use some help.
I am using Premiere Pro CS3 under Vista Home Premium Sp1 on a HP Core2 Quad CPU Q6700 with 6 GB Ram.
I am editing clips captured using FRAPS (a screen capture utility) at 1440×900, 48kHz Stereo audio. FRAPS creates AVI files in the FPS1 codec, which is installed with FRAPS. I created a custom preset in PPro, 1440×900 square pixel, 24 fps, which matches the FRAPs clips.
I imported the AVI files and started editing. After a time, the audio from several of the clips disappeared. More specifically, in 3 of the 7 clips I imported the audio disappears at 1:09 in the clip. That is, when looking at the waveform of the clip in the viewer, the audio stops at exactly 1:09 (33 frames in) in all 3 clips which have this problem.
If I play these same clips in Windows Media Player or in Adobe Bridge, the audio is present throughout the clip. I tried making 1 of them offline then relinking it, but it didn’t change anything.
I say ‘after a time’, because I can’t be 100% sure that I played the problematic clips and heard the audio or not. I think I did, meaning that the clip played with audio at least once and then developed this problem, but I am not positive.
Any insight or suggestions would be most welcome.
Thanks in advance!
