audio cut and paste issues – Help
I was working on a project in Adobe Premiere Pro when I realized the resolution was not the best size so I copied the video and audio pieces from the file I was working on, opened a new file at the right resolution, then pasted the audio and video pieces into the new file. I then worked on the project (it worked fine), saved it and shut the machine down.
Now, when I reopen the file, I get no audio from the pasted audio, audio/video clips. I can SEE the audio information when I look at the audio clip up above in the source window, but when I zoom into the audio timeline, there is no audio information.
when I import another audio clip everything works fine.
Any ideas?

Can you help me dig down a little deeper? When I go to preferences, what option should I choose?
I could not find a folder called “peak files folder”. Is there some other name? Alternatively, I can search by file extension. What file extension does a peak file use?

Find your peak files folder (the location is under Preferences), and delete them.

Look for Preferences > Scratch Disks > Audio previews
If you haven’t changed the default scratch disks, the peak files should be in a subfolder named “Media Cache Files”, in your project folder. Delete all the files in that folder. Let us know how that works out.

Thanks. Does that only work for the files before they are placed in the timeline? After I erased the .pek files, then relaunched my project, Primiere went through and configured all my audio in the project bins but did not update what I had already placed on the timeline. The audio files continue to flat line.
Is there a solution or am I just stuck doing everything over?

That affects every files in your project. If you deleted the right peak files, Premiere should start conforming again within a few seconds. Look around in case you moved the project.
Also, if Premiere crashed, and you are using an autosaved file, the peak files will be in a subfolder in the autosave folder.

One more thing, I don’t know how many projects you are working on, but you can do a windows search for “.PEK” and see what folders/files come up. Then delete away !

I meant to add that, if that converter did introduce errors in the file, Premiere Pro would be a lot more picky about it than Vegas, or even Premiere Elements I believe.
