  • Audio compression in Architect 4

I’ve noticed Architect 4 almost always compresses my audio and I do not understand why. I render in Vegas 7 using PAL DVD template (which generate MPEG 2 AC-3 audio (Stereo) 48Khz sampling) with bit rate of 224Kbps which, to my understanding should not get recompressed while burning PAL DVD with Architect 4. Any reason why is that?

Are you rendering the AC3 separately? If not, you’re actually rendering MPEG audio which must be uncompressed and then recompressed as AC3.

[jeditdv] “Are you rendering the AC3 separately?”
No, I do not render separatly. I rechecked myself and I made a mistake in my post – Sorry for that. Here is the correction – My native current clip is .m2t (which has stereo audio). I render to PAL DVD STD template. Then I burn PAL DVD using the Architect.
I am getting a comment, before it gets burned, saying the audio has to be compressed.

That’s true. It has to be decompressed from the .m2t file and then recompressed into AC3 format.

But does’t it happen when I render in Vegas? Why is it needed, again, in Architect?

Because the template to which you are rendering isn’t supported for DVD delivery of MPEG. Computers, yes. DVD, no.
You want to make it easy, use the VASST freeware “DVDPrep.” It’ll make the MPEG and AC3 file using the same name/folder, and it’ll make it faster for you in Architect.
