audio channels
I’ve got a couple Sony DVD players no less. One is a BD and the other one is the combo tape and DVD recorder. Neither one will play 3/2 channel DVD. They wont play DVD’s from Netflix either with 3/2. As Vegas seems to record the sound in 3/2 I cant play them on my sony players but have to go to my Samsung BD player. Someone can save me a lot of screwing around by telling me how to save sound in other formats or am I doomed to playing them on the Samsung? Nothing wrong with that but it is in the bedroom and I may not want to watch it there. I talked to support but they sounded like they were in the Philippines this problem was not on their list so couldn’t help me. I’m suspicious of help from someone who probably don’t even own a computer. I was thinking there might be a driver upgrade. When she started asking me what operating system I had I decided there was no help there. So a little information on converting the sound in 5 channel or what ever these players will play would be appreciated.

By 3/2 channel, do you mean 5.1 surround sound?
I can understand your combo unit not having this mode of playback but all BD players have had it since their inception. -
The DVD’s are identified as 3/2. DVD’s created from old movies are usually recorded in 3/2 format. I suppose they were monoral. Recording by transferring from my videotapes are recorded in 3/2 I suppose in stereo with a center channel. I think you are right but for some reason both players don’t play 3/2 now. One time awhile ago I forget how far back the BD did play when the combo didn’t. Lately neither will play 3/2. My Samsung in the bedroom plays 3/2 ok.
