Not sure where this topic goes, but a client wants to have a CD with audio tracks encrypted then put to DLT for replication. I’ve looked at GearPro which will convert it to DDP but can it encrypt it as well? If audio cd’s can be encrypted, what other software is available for encryption and/or DDP conversion? is it even possible to prevent cd’s to be ripped these days?

    thx

There were a few copy-protection encryption methods silmilar to Macrovision that were developed for CD-Audio back in the early ninties, but they all failed. There was simply too much hardware in use by consumers that would not play the disc.

Then there was the failed Sony/Microsoft scheme a few years back.

So the answer is: Yes, the methods exist, but none of them work reliably for CD-Audio.
