    Hey all,

I have to “load” sound from a DAT into Final Cut and I’m wondering if anyone has experience with that, who might be able to point me in the direction of proper settings, things I should be looking out for, and of course (if possible), a step-by-step guide to gettin’ it done.

    Thanks for your help,
    -V

It’s a Tascam DA-P1 portable DAT recorder. It looks like I’ll have to get these DAT tapes into FCP with the “voice over” tool. I have the DAT hooked up: stereo to 8th inch, line in…

Does this sound like the correct way to go about it? Is there a way to log using the voice over tool, or will logging involve another step?

i use sound track pro all the time, to capture audio from my minidisc. just make sure to bring it in at 48k, 16bit.

you can probably just bring it in, using the mini input on the back of your mac. i’ve done it many times, and it sounds pretty good. if youhave the ability to get a firewire m audio box, or somethign similar, that’ll work too

If you need to do a lot of DAT work, I have a Sony PCM-7040 for sale.
It is a professional DAT recorder, with timecode and RS422 control.
You it just like a professional VTR.

    Neil.
