Anyone ever seen (Or cared) that when you render a file (No matter what the format) the audio and video streams do not match in length???

Normally this isn’t a problem but I recently ran into a problem with a broadcast media player that will not play media files correctly if the audio and the video are not the “EXACT” length in time.

If you go to explorer and right click properties, you’ll see that none of the files you render are ever the same length.

You can render with Quicktime alone or Avid or Final Cut and video / Audio streams are identical…

    Thoughts….

You didn’t say what format you are encoding, but this is a documented problem with wmv encodes. But since wmv is so inferior to MP4, I wouldn’t look for a fix anytime soon.

So, what are you trying to encode?

Doesn’t matter what you are encoding, but I am encoding primarily .mp4 with the Sony AVC or Main Comcept AVC. It also does it with Any .mov variety as well as any .mpg

Except for wmv files, the audio and video here are identical in length. Did you accidentally turn off “Quantize”.

Yes the Quantized option is selected. Seriously, just try it and you’ll see what I mean. It even dies it if you use a solid color and render with blank audio track using loop region only. Then use properties to view both streams and you’ll see both streams don’t match. They are close but not exactly.

You’re going to have to be more specific, because I am simply not seeing the problem you describe.

Take a look at the attached frame capture. It shows IN RED, where the video and audio stream do not match in length. This is after rendering a loop region within Vegas. Doesn’t matter what you are rendering to, happens just the same…
