  • Audio always needs rendering–Sequence settings?

    Hi,

I’m working on a friend’s project. He handed me a hard drive with all of the media on it already and I’m having a hard time getting the settings correct to not have to render everything in FCP. I finally figured out the settings so I don’t have to render the video, but the audio still has the red line present and beeps when I play it unrendered. When I “Get Info” on the clips on the hard drive it says “Kind: DV Movie,” as opposed to QuickTime Movie, which is what it says when I get info from any of the clips from my other projects that I captured personally.

So, please educate me, folks. I know this has to be something stupid and simple, but I can’t figure it out. I’m getting pretty close to just re-logging and re-capturing everything and I really don’t want to do that, but I also really don’t want to have to render the audio every time I play with a new clip in the timeline.

    Thanks in advance.

    Jason

You have to render it at item level. The file has come from iMovie and is not in same format as use by Final Cut. It’s a muxed file and not QuickTime with separate tracks.

    All the best,
