I’m trying to import an audacity export into FCPX, and encountering the following issues:

First off, I exported the file in a variety of formats, including AIFF, MP3, and WAV, all of which are supported files according to the FCPX help guide.

When I attempt to import the file, the following error message pops up:

“Audacity” contains unsupported media or has an invalid director structure. Please choose a folder whose directory structure matches supported media.”

I’ve tried exporting the files in different locations to no avail.

    Hope you can help! Thanks!

What version of Audacity and what OS are you on? I’m using Audacity 2.0 on Lion 10.7.4 and FCP X 10.0.4 and it works fine. Are you trying to import the Audacity project and not the actual audio file you exported perhaps?

    Hey Nick,

I am also running Audacity 2.0, Lion 10.7.4, and FCPX 10.0.4.

And no, I am definitely selecting the proper audio file.

So, it turns out that FCPX isn’t recognizing ANY audio files whatsoever.

I’m having no such problem. Have you tried trashing prefs or re-installing FCP X?

Sounds like you are trying to import a folder named “audacity” and not an audio file.
