atto R680 in mid 2012 MacPro fan speed problems
Posted by Tudor Paslaru on November 27, 2012 at 7:34 pmHi, does anyone have atto R680 installed in a MacPro, and have fan speed noise problems? We want to buy this controller and I am not sure how serious is this problem.
Thanks in advance

November 29, 2012 at 6:08 pmNone of my clients have complained about the noise. I don’t have one in my home system, but I’m installing one for a client on Tuesday. I’ll let you know what I find.

November 30, 2012 at 8:34 pmHi everyone — I work at ATTO in support; and I am happy to report that with the latest driver & firmware version for the R680 (and the also the R380), the fan noise on any model Mac Pro should not be a problem.
If users are currently experiencing problems with fan noise, it is suggested that they upgrade to the latest driver & firmware version, and then completely power off the machine (has to be cold shutdown, not a warm reboot) and then power it back on. This will resolve any fan noise issues.
If anyone has any questions, please let me know.
