    Hi Just a quick question,

Purchased two Atto NT11 10gb cards, Installed them into Slot 2 in two Mac Pro towers, verified in the mac config that they are in 8x slots and installed the current atto drivers for mac osx 10.8.4.
I have both of them running into a netgear 10gb M7100 switch via cat 6e cables only around 10ft.
In the switch i can see that it sees the connections as 10gbe.
When i look in the networking panel on the Macs, it sees the card in the left hand window and shows me the PCI card in the PCI card slot.
I assign them both a static IP address.
However when i go into the Advanced Tab and Hardware, and try to configure the settings manually i do not see 10gbe under speed as an option, only 100baseTX and 1000baseT.
Am i missing something? i thought the 10gb option speed would show up here?
I tried a basic copy from one mac to the other mac, and it defiantly didn’t seem like 10gb speeds.
Do i need to install Iperf and verify this?
All i am looking to eventually do is move six of our macs onto this switch as well as a basic Linux file storage system to allow the moving of files around a little quicker than the current setup on 1000 ethernet.

    thanks

    Brian

Did someone call my name ?

I am an expert (maybe) on the Netgear 10G switches, and the
ATTO 10gig cards in Mac enviornments.

    Call my CEL at (407) 257 9157

The M7100-24X is an expensive switch ! We usually use the smaller ones.

    Hey Bob,

    Thanks for the reply.
As per atto its an osx bug, which is why 10GB wont show up under the speeds in custom settings.
If i leave it on automatic, i get the 10gb speeds.
although it was interesting to see the speed difference on an older mac with only PCI 1 slots of 8x over PCI2 8x slots.
I do have a question regarding the switch that you may be able to help with.
Right now I have a vlan in my enviroment dedicated to wireless, vlan2
    ID.
I noticed on the netgear it assigns vlan2 to the voice vlan, is there a way to get rid of this? i tried through the terminal to delete the vlan2 but it denies me everytime.

    Thanks

    Brian
