Is there a way to add the same media effect (not event effect) to multiple media? For example, I wish to add a white border around several still images, each image being a separate event. I now wish to pan those stills with their white borders through the screen.
I hope I explained it properly.

You can highlight all of the events and drag the effect into the first one and it should get applied to all of them.

Thanks John, I thought you had the answer… but unfortunately it doesn’t work because when you select multiple events, the “media fx” choice is greyed out.

    Any other ideas?

You know, I don’t know what I was thinking. You even stressed that you wanted a Media FX not an Event FX and I gave you the instructions for an Event FX… my bad.

The only way to do this is with a script. Ultimate S Pro from VASST has the capability to do this. Otherwise you need to do them one at a time.

Just realised my typo in the header. Anyway, thanks for coming back John, but I do have Ultimate S.. the latest… and it will assign the effect to multiple events, but not the media in the event. So looks like a long night is ahead of me, although I have a macro-capable keyboard so maybe I can lessen the pain a bit. As an aside, the Sony border that is applied via Ultimate S (to events only) has no way to adjust the width of that border… or I am missing something?

And for any others reading… yes, 9e is sooo slooowww loading. I have yet to render out, and am a bit worried what the results will be after reading some of the posts, but I can’t go back to an earlier version unless I start editing all over again. Horrors.
All the best from Down Under.

Sure it will… In the upper left corner of the Visual FX tab is the section called Video Media Affected. It defaults to Timeline but you can set it to Media Bin and select the bin to be affected. This will add Media FX to all the media in that bin. It is explained on page 51 of the Ultimate S Pro Users Guide under Media Bin as the Video Source. The workflow looks something like this:

As an aside, the Sony border that is applied via Ultimate S (to events only) has no way to adjust the width of that border… or I am missing something?

You are missing the fact that Ultimate S uses presets from the Sony Border FX. Feel free to make a new preset and adjust them however you want and Ultimate S Pro will use them. You may have to close and re-open Ultimate S Pro for it to read the presets list again.
