Attaching a Proxy to AE
Posted by Andrew Park on January 17, 2018 at 10:39 pmIs there anyway to attach a proxy to an After Effects project in CatDV? Would love to see a preview of the project before opening it.

January 20, 2018 at 2:54 amjust render a copy of the output. If you save it in the project directory it just shows up as an element. Note is as you like. You can select that render and have CatDV render a proxy to your proxy drive/directory so you have full-time access to it if the project directory is located elsewhere.
Non-linear: all the time and nothing but.

January 23, 2018 at 12:46 pmHi Andrew
a catdv proxy file just needs to be either a jpg or h264 mp4 file and to be placed in the correct part of the proxy directory
so if we have an original after effects project at /Volumes/my_drive/My_folder/my_afx_prjoect.aep
and we make a still of the first frame and save it as a jpeg to
/Volumes/CatDV_Proxies/Volumes/my_drive/My_folder/my_afx_prjoect.jpg
then clicking on the aep in catdv will show the jpg still
if we were to render out the whole project asan h264 mp4 file called my_afx_prjoect.mp4 and place this at
/Volumes/CatDV_Proxies/Volumes/my_drive/My_folder/my_afx_prjoect.mp4
then instead of the still you would play the movie as the proxy in the desktop or web clients
you would need to either make the files manually
or
create a worker action or custom action In the Catdv Pegasus Desktop client to make these files for you if you wanted to build an automationthank you dougal
