  • Attaching a light to a mask/path

Posted by Sean Cullen on January 19, 2008 at 7:17 am

I am working on a light stream effect (like the old ipod nano commercials)

I want my emitter (light layer) to follow along a mask path that i drew

i cannot figure out how to attach the light to follow my mask.

    is this possible to do?

You should select the mask shape property, copy, then select the light position property and paste. Does that work?

It’s simple. Draw, select, copy, select, paste.

    In CS3:

    1. draw the mask on a solid
    2. select the solid’s “mask path” property and hit edit>Copy
    3. select the Light’s Position property and hit edit>Paste

It worked great for me too! I was afraid I would have needed to get into much more 😉

But how do you position/ move the path without moving the keyframes ?
