I’m trying to attach multiple cubes to a spline that I created. I want to animate the cubes traveling along the spline path. I used a cloner on the cube and then tried attaching them with a spline wrap but it’s not giving me the result I’m looking for. They use a very similar effect in this video with spheres. Any ideas? Thank you very much

You could just use the clonners object mode. That in combination with a effector or two could work out well. You could use the spline effector as well.

I used the clonner object mode set to surface and made used a sweep nurb with a helix for this animation I did a while ago.

Thanks so much Greg. I got it working…kinda. I put the cube in a cloner and set the cloner to object and then used a spline wrap. I used a random effector to get some rotation on the cubes but I can’t figure out how to randomize the size of the cubes. I tried using another random effector but it didn’t work. I may have been doing something wrong though. Thanks again man.

hmm the random effector for size should have worked unless you already have something controlling the scale. You may have to play with the order of your effectors.

Are you using another object to just generate a grouping of clonners or using it as the actual path? Because you don’t have to use a spline wrap. spline wrap does have it’s own controls for scale as well that may add some unwanted sizing.

If you’re using a random effector for rotation you can use the same one for size, though a separate one should work, too. Make sure it’s listed in the cloner’s effectors tab. Effectors are applid to cloners automatically if the cloner is selected when you create the effector, but if the cloner wasn’t selected you have to drag-and-drop the effector into the cloner’s effector list.

I opened a new project and tried the effect again and its working correctly now. I was able to affect the size and rotation of my objects with one random effector. Thanks so much guys you were both very helpful!
