  • attach a 2D tracked null to a 3D null to get parallax effect for titles

Hi. I know I can 3D track a scene and get a camera out of 2D coordinates using Ae (or syntheyes), but I already
tracked my title to my video using point tracking position+scale+rotation so I have a null with this data to which
I have attached my title. now I want to experiment with some parallax between the title and the video…

I know I can toggle the 3D switch for my 2D tracked null and add Z, but then I need to compensate by offsetting position and scale keyframes.
so I am looking for a better way by attaching the 2D track to a 3D null (after setting the 2D track null and the title layer to 3D) but
simply parenting the 2D null to the 3D null and shifting the 3D null Z space and reducing scale won’t do. there is no parallax. I am looking for maybe an expression that can extract 3D data out of 2D data so my parallax can work.

so far I see that creating an expression value+parameter in the 2d track to the 3D null parameter does this. but is there a more elegant way?

    Thanks
