I don’t see it in the Trim Window & I don’t see it using Ripple or Roll. Sorry, but it’s simply apparent that the folks here don’t know what I’m talking about. Perhaps it’s just an advanced feature that PPro users don’t need. Thanks to all the responders.

DId you try the Ctr-T function

Select clip – CtrT – Spacebar play to In or out point – “I” or “O” (set in or out point) – Clip updates in timeline

I realise this is not “asynchronous triming” but it may be the work around you need.

So is it don’t need or is not implemented or programmed for yet? Your smug response could easily create a flame war the way it’s worded. Why don’t you chalk it up to “it’s not been programmed in because they (Adobe)don’t see the feature” not “the users aren’t sophisticated enough to use it”? Your response sounds like an apersion to me.

I apologize if you were offended, especially since I thought I had graciously thanked all those who responded to my question, including yourself. I didn’t criticize Premiere Pro, nor did I criticize those who use it. After 6 posts of trying to explain asynchronous trimming, it was a little frustrating that there was not a single response that understood the feature or how it worked. Maybe I wasn’t clear, but I think not. Thus it seemed apparent to me that perhaps this feature was something that might not be needed by the user base here.

OTOH, I really don’t need a lecture on COW etiquette from someone who doesn’t know me or my history of posting on the COW, and who has contributed (according to your profile) just a handfull of posts in his time here. If you have any problems with my conduct here, I suggest you complain to the Forum Administrators. In fact, I’ll send them the link to this entire thread for you.

I have known you for years and I do not think that you were out of line. Some may read it like that but I didn’t.

Thanks for the apology for the sake of keeping peace but I think that you are quite within the realm of our policies here at the Cow.

Everyone gets a little frustrated at times, especially when discussing the more esoteric features that are not needed by most editors. But working in the mass production, rapid-fire environment in which you work, features such as asynchronous trimming are the kinds of things you must know to get so many jobs done in the time you have.

Over two years later and we still don’t have asynchronous (or dynamic) trimming in PPro CS3.

If Craig is still contributing to this board:

In PPro 1.5 I think Ctrl T brought up the trim window. But how do you use the In and Out keys in this mode? I didn’t think this feature was (is) available…
