    These diagrams are remixed from the Asus website and the respective product owners manuals.

    Asus P9X79 Pro

    While the WS may look like it has more PCIe bandwidth than the Pro, each board has a maximum of 40 lanes, which is limited by the PCIe capacity of the CPUs that these boards are designed for.

    Just because a slot is x16 in size doesn’t mean it can provide X16 lanes in any or in all configurations.

    The pro diagram is confusing. Either it shows to the right you can have 3×16 cards or top to bottom 1×16 and 2×8 ?

    You’re right Simon. Sorry!
    The 1card 2cards 3cards should be treated as column headings.
    Pick the appropriate column and then read down.

    Ah ok so the numbers are for GPU positions only

    I was readin as if you have 2 x 16X gpus in you cant have anything else :-/

    R380
    Decklink Extreme HD

    Anyone tried running the non ui cards in x8 and having 2 gpu’s then on this MB ?
