I just purchased CatDV, so I am a beginner with a lot of questions. My first is: on some of my clips in the summary, there is an asterisk after the timecode. What does that mean? I suspect it means that CatDV is unsure of the timecode. If so, can I fix it?

It means you have 60 fps timecode and you’re on an odd frame or field. The timecode will increment as follows as you step through the movie:

    0:00:00;00 0:00:00;00* 0:00:00;01 … 0:00:00;29 0:00:00;29* 0:00:01;00
