  Aspect Ratio Question

  Hi there,

  I’m cutting a broadcast project to be finished at 16:9 FHA. The show contains some archive material that has an aspect ratio of 2.20 : 1 (an old and no longer used ratio I believe). I’ve been told that I can preserve the 2.20 : 1 in amongst the rest of the material at 16:9, however I’m a bit stuck. I was given a DVD to DVCAM transfer of the archive and now I’ve cut in all of the archive material I’m not sure whether the picture looks correct, how can I test that the footage I’ve been given is true 2.20 : 1? As a test I’ve tried Pan & Scanning the archive from 4:3 to 16:9 and the picture also looks correct at this new ratio.

  Any advice would be much appreciated.
