    Hi there,

I am new to Premier and I have imported a video shot on my DSLR at HD widescreen and it is showing in the source sequence window in the proper ratio but in the other window called ‘Program’ it has cropped it at 4:3 ratio. Tried exporting as wide screen but still no good. Can anyone please help explain where I may be going wrong?

    Many thanks

    Scott

Your “Program” window is tied to your timeline. It sounds like you’ve just created a sequence with the wrong settings (4:3 vs 16:9) and therefore it looks wrong. The Program window is just displaying how you’ve setup your timeline settings.

In your “Project” window, right click on your imported movie clip and choose “New Sequence From Clip.”

This will make a timeline with the exact same settings as the clip you imported. Provided your clip is 16:9, HD then Premiere will make a sequence exactly the same as that.
