This is kind of a re-post from yesterday but I wasn’t able to find a solution so I’ll try again with more specific information.

I’m working with a frame size of HD 1440×1080 and trying to export with Quicktime Conversion: MPEG4, Broadband-Medium settings (final image size 320×240), with the preserve aspect ratio with letterbox option checked.

My resulting video comes out without letterbox, and a vertically stretched image. So I guess the problem is trying to go from a widescreen to standard image. I need the parameters of the final video to be 320×240 but containing a widescreen image (hence it will be letterboxed)

I wasn’t able to find a solution yesterday. Some suggestions involved Compressor (unfortunately I don’t know how to use it and don’t have time to learn before my deadline on Wednesday). Or nesting my sequence into a 4:3 sequence, which didn’t work (the video became much too large for the frame, resulting in more complications).

If anyone out there has any additional ideas, I would be eternally greatful as this is for one of my first freelance editing jobs and I don’t want to miss the upcoming deadline. I’ll try to post video tomorrow when CreativeCow has approved it, to hopefully further clarify my issues.

    THANK YOU!

“nesting my sequence into a 4:3 sequence, which didn’t work (the video became much too large for the frame, resulting in more complications)”

Simply use resize to reduce the image in the motion tab of the effects composition.
