  • Aspect Ratio Issue from PPro to AE

    Hello,

I’m working in Premiere Pro CS 5.5. and AE CS 5.5

The question here involves a change in the video aspect ratio when sending a clip from
    PPro to AE.

In my PPro sequence, the clip is 960×720 (P2 footage) with a PAR of 1.333 making the effective
resolution in both the source and program monitors 1280×720 or 16:9.

    So far so good.

I want to send the clip to AE in order to add a lower third.

I’ve been doing this with “Replace with After Effects Composition.”

AE opens up, but the clip appears with a 4:3 aspect ratio. When I examine the composition settings, everything seems ok: the width and height are 960×720 with the HDV 1080/DVCPRO HD 720 (1.33) pixel aspect ratio, just as it was in PPro.

But visually I’m looking at 4:3 instead of 16:9.

I’ve experimented with the composition settings, but to no avail

    What am I missing here?

    Thanks.

    Hi David,

You can simply click on the right top side of your AE comp and select View options, and check the aspect ratio correction box.

This will not however provide a true high quality preview. Instead, I would recommend you change the comp settings in AE to 1280×720 square and all will be right again.
