Aspect Ratio: DV to D1 Anamorphic then to HDCAM
Hi I have a problem upsampling my anamorphic footage from DV to Blackmagic 10 bit (D1) Basically I’m getting an aspect ratio problem, and it seems to not compensate for the six pixels when going from 480 to 486…Ultimately we are ending up on HDCAM
When upsampling DV to Blackmagic 10bit anamorphic using the
Problems upsampling anamorphic DV to Blackmagic 10bit D1 for Digibeta transcode through Teranax to HD
Taking a DV (720×480 DV NTSC) sequence into a D1 sequence(720×486 CCIR 601 NTSC (40:27) in Final Cut we find that when viewed anamorphically there is distortion. This makes sense as anamorphic from 720×486 will produce a slight shift in aspect ratio in comparison to going anamorphic from 720×480. This problem is exaggerated when we put the Digibeta (D1) through the Teranax for HD output.
WE find we can adjust the DV nested sequence withinin the D1 sequence before output by scaling up 1% and altering aspect ratio by 1 (in the motion window) but we get a slight blurring. As there is some loss of image quality already when upsampling from SD to HD we would prefer to avoid this.
Are there settings we’re missing or fixes that can be used to correct for this?
Thanks
